Beyond the castle walls, explore the diverse gardens, home to a variety of flora, and wander the expansive grounds, which include a serene lake, a cricket pitch, and even a tennis court. There’s also a café for refreshments and a gift shop for souvenirs.
Deal Castle
A very short drive from Walmer lies the 16th century Deal Castle. The castle stands as a testament to England's Tudor-era military might. Its unique design, featuring massive circular bastions connected by a network of intriguing passageways, allowed for a powerful defense against potential invaders. Visitors can explore these historic ramparts, imagining the lives of soldiers who once manned the cannons and defended the coast. The restaurant at the end of Deal Pier boasts stunning sea views. Alternatively, the Zetland Arms, near Walmer Castle, offers a warm pub atmosphere. For a classic seaside lunch, try one of Deal's excellent fish and chip shops. Check opening hours, especially off-season.

We highly recommend booking ahead, especially if you're travelling during peak season, to ensure you don't miss out!- The MPV, with driver-guide, comfortably accommodates up to 5 passengers with luggage or up to 8 passengers without luggage.
- The London black cab is wheelchair-accessible and permitted in areas restricted to regular vehicles. Accommodates up to 4 passengers with luggage or up to 6 passengers without.
- The Mercedes minicoach accommodates up to 16 passengers with or without luggage and includes both a driver and a dedicated step-on tour guide.
- For some attractions, tickets need to be purchased in advance. We're happy to offer advice on this.
- Food and drinks aren't included, but your guide will be delighted to point you towards some great local restaurants, pubs or cafes where you can grab a bite to eat.
